I finally posted the pictures of our trip to Vail Co. to my page. We’d never been out to Colorado, so this was our first experience. Vail is about 8150’ above sea level, with the mountain that goes over 10,350 (you’ll see our nice hike :) .
A little color on the pictures, a few of the flowers are from my early morning jog, our trek up the mountain (Josh and I ran it one morning in 1hr and 11 minutes (that was 2200 vertical feet up in a 3.5 Mile trail). The water for rafting was crazy cold, 39 degrees, so we’re all wearing wetsuits, Josh was the only one who jumped in at a “jump in spot”, that lasted about 15 seconds. :) We did a “Segway” tour, something we'd never done before, but it was fun to wheel around Vail and see the houses and hear history from our guides.
In some of pictures I was showing Sarah how to use the Neutral Density filter to capture some “water movement”, I think some fun shots. The days were sunny and low 70’s and nights were clear and low 30’s. At night looking out the balcony I noticed the star Antares in Scorpius rising over the mountains. I thought about this and realized that Sagittarius was to the left, and if I remembered correctly, the “tea kettle” part has the “steam” releasing into the heart of the Milky Way galaxy. Sagittarius was still below the mountain, but I aimed my camera in the direction, opened up aperture all the way, set the ISO to 3600 with 25 second exposure, and got my images of our amazing galaxy.
Overall it was a fun trip and a place I’d love to go back, even in the winter to capture some of the magical & enchanting snow scenery.
